Our Mission & Vision
We plan to Gather together for worship not only in our services but in small group studies each week. You will find that our goal is to lift up Jesus Christ through the expository preaching of the Word of God & blended worship. We desire that everything we do in our time together would point to Jesus Christ from His Word. We also plan to Grow together as the body of Christ. We desire to be hungry for the Word of God in our services, Sunday School, small group studies, family worship times, & personal times with the Lord. We seek to be more like Christ each day, to take seriously the Great Commission command to make disciples of all nations, & to be a praying people. We want to be sensitive to the leadership of the Holy Spirit & His leading in all things. Finally, we seek to Glorify God together. The main goal of all that we do as the body of Christ is to bring honor & glory to our God. Our desire is to glorify God at church, at work, at home, everywhere!
Joe Don Hawthorn, Pastor
Joe Don became pastor of Calvary Baptist Church August 1, 2010. He has served a number of churches in Arkansas in youth, children, & college ministries. Joe Don is married to Maranda & has three children – Bryan, Joanna, & CorrieBeth. He is originally from Jacksonville, AR. He has attended Central Baptist College in Conway, AR (A.A. & B.A. in Bible) & Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX. Joe Don enjoys sports, especially basketball & golf, spending time with his family, reading, & serving the Lord with his church family.
Larry Poff, Worship & Music
Our Music Minister is Larry Poff. Larry is very blessed in the area of music, both vocally as well as playing the guitar. He and his wife, Sheila, have two children – Jon-Michael, 20, and Meagan, 19.
Mark Cartwright, Media & Families
Mark has grown up in Calvary and now leads our Sound & Media team. He also works with our kids and students as we minister to them at Calvary.
Barbara Taylor serves as our church secretary and is a Certified Church Ministry Assistant and a Certified Quickbooks Pro Advisor. Barbara also serves as an officer of the Arkansas Association of Southern Baptist Secretaries.
